Trauma-Responsive Schools

Aware. InFORMED. RESPONSIVE.

Our goal is to help schools & community agencies move from trauma aware, to trauma informed, to trauma responsive.

How can I learn more?

Great question!

  • PARTICIPATE IN TRAINING to learn more about trauma.
  • The Center for Childhood Resilience provides a self-paced Virtual Learning Community that is endorsed by the Illinois State Board of Education. These modules are provided at no cost and are appropriate for educators, community workers, clinicians, parents, and others who work with youth.
  • Enroll in a YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID COURSE: Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily intended for adults age 18 and older to learn how to help young people experiencing mental health challenges or crises. It reviews the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems in adolescents ages 12-18 and emphasizes the importance of early intervention.

How can I create a trauma responsive school environment?

  • Partnership for a Healthy Community has worked with partners from the Peoria Regional Office of Education, Peoria Public Schools Office of Social Emotional Learning and Wraparound Center, Heart of Illinois United Way, and Hult Center for Healthy Living to create a matrix that will walk schools through becoming trauma responsive. To request a copy of the matrix, please contact our team using the form request below.
